The Question is: We are useing VAX4000 100, with VAX/VMS 5.2 version. The system has DHW42-CA Asynchronous Communication option installed and 4 line Asynchronous ports cable with modem control. One of the port is connected to Serial line printer (Some Japanies brand) for continue Alram report printing. Now Printer is Damage , So before buy any standard Serial Lineprinter I used windows Hyperterminal emulator on this port to receive Alarm Data, but I am contineously receivng 3 character Code evey 10 second delay instead of actual data. Even I used the same Serial port Setting as the Printer has. Flow control Xon/Xoff Parity None Baud Rate 9600 Data Bits 8 Could you please give Idea what is the reason. And guide us to solve this problem. Looking forward Rizwan Ahmed The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard would have to assume these three character codes are being generated by the (unspecified) alarm-reporting application. Without details of the three characters seen and the application that might be generating these characters, no more specific answer is possible -- this could conceivably be a device probe of some sort, looking for the status and accessability of the printer.
