Processor and Platform (and SMP) Support?

The Question is:

 
Can this o/s version support dual processor?
 
Is is just a case of inserting an identical processor?
 
If not what is the next o/s version that supports dual proc?
 
 

The Answer is :

 
  For the supported platforms, please review the Software Product
  Description (SPD) for the release(s) of interest.
 
  OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2 exited all support some time ago, and an
  upgrade to a more recent OpenVMS release is encouraged -- as of
  this writing, V7.2-2 or V7.3-1 or later would be recommended.
 
  OpenVMS first added symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) capabilities with
  version V5.0, and a form of multi-processing known as asymmetric
  multiprocessing (ASMP) was available on yet earlier releases.
 
  Releases V5.0 and later can provide SMP, in other words.
 
  OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2 can and does support SMP, assuming a supported
  hardware platform and assuming sufficient software license units are
  present.
 
  Please see the SPD for details of the particular platform of interest.
 
  Please contact your hardware service and support provider or HP
