The Question is: Greetings, I have OpenVMS 7.1 running on a satellite node on a VAX 4000-105A. Previously I had a VAX 4000-100 running with this node in a mixed CI cluster with 3 Alpha 4100s running OpenVMS 7.3-1, 5 HSJ40s (two redundant pairs for disks and one standalone for tapes , 2 HSG80s for disks and a Modular Data Router for tapes. However, I have been asked to consolidate the VAX applications onto one system and retire the HSJs. My problem is that the 4000-100 had two internal DSSI disks it used for paging and swapping which I wanted to use on the 4000-105A for the same purpose. After I installed the DSSI disks into the 4000-105A I can see them using >>> SHO DEV from the console , however, after I boot the new satellite configuration they are not visible, even after I do a SYSGEN AUTOCONFIGURE. I checked the [SYS4] root from where the original 4000-100 booted from and do not see any obvious differences that allowed it to load the DSSI disks. I have searched the Documentation, FAQ, and previous Ask the Wiz archives and either I am not asking for the right search criteria or the information is not to be found. Any clues? Have Fun, twhjr The Answer is : Please contact your hardware services organization or HP services for assistance with hardware reconfiguration and troubleshooting -- if the OpenVMS I/O autoconfiguration is not finding the DSSI disk devices, then the devices are not configured correctly, the DSSI bus is not terminated, or there is a connectivity or other hardware error lurking. There is a general introduction to DSSI address configurations and settings in the OpenVMS FAQ that may be of interest here, as well.
