The Question is: logged in as the SYSTEM account I am trying: $set def sys$system $run authorize but getting the error message - %RMS-F-DEV, error in device name or inappropriate device type for operation I have tried: $define/proc/exec sysuaf <another uaf file> $run authorize but with the same result. what am I doing wrong?. The Answer is : Please issue the DCL command: DIRECTORY/FULL SYSUAF DIRECTORY/FULL RIGHTSLIST DIRECTORY/FULL NET$PROXY DIRECTORY/FULL NETPROXY to determine if the logical name is correctly defined. The OpenVMS Wizard would expect that one or more of the logical names SYSUAF, RIGHTSLIST, NETPROXY and/or NET$PROXY is incorrect; that the translation does not point to a valid file. Topics related to the management of SYSUAF and the various other files shared in a cluster are discussed in topics including (9573), and other topics referenced there. For a list of the files that are typically shared within a cluster (or that are used to redirect a core file to another device or directory on a standalone node), please see SYLOGICALS.TEMPLATE on V7.2 and later releases.
