Wanted: User Support Specialist and Systems Manager

This position is first and foremost a support position. We need someone who has strong experience with most or all of the following environments: Macintosh, MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows (3.1/WfW/NT), UNIX, TCP/IP, Appletalk, Novell NetWare.

You will be the front-line of support for both engineers and non-technical folks when they have problems with their computers. This will include helping folks troubleshoot printing, networking, dialing-in, creating new UNIX accounts, and finding solutions for day-to-day problems that crop up.

You will also be responsible for specifying, ordering, and configuring new PCs and Macs. There will be networking connections to be punched down and UNIX accounts to be created and problems to be solved. You should be handy with hardware... willing to install and configure cards and take things apart in order to adjust them or send them to be repaired.

In the time when you're not responding to requests, you will have the opportunity to work on various systems management projects to improve the computing environment for the users and make it easier to support. Such things may include centralized electronic distribution of software, inventory of hardware and software, ensuring that we are properly licensed to use all of our microcomputer software, writing documentation, backup schemes, etc.

You will be working closely with a network manager and systems adminstrator at Mosaic Communications Corp. As at many startup companies, this is a full-time plus job as we cope with extremely fast growth. You'll get to work with an excellent, dedicated team that's dedicated to producing technology to facilitate commerce over the Internet. Lots of free pizza and caffeine, too.

Wanted: Hypermedia Content Creator

We are looking for a highly articulate, visually-oriented writer and designer to create hypermedia content. This is a job that bridges technical writing, programming, and visual and creative design. The right person will have the intersection of skills and experience needed to fulfill this role from day 1. The job will be highly dynamic and may involve periods of time emphasizing only one or two of these attributes; for example, one week you may be writing a white paper on network security, the next week you may be designing and implementing the framework for an online hypermedia directory of educational resources on the Internet, and the third week you may be interfacing an advanced back-end search engine to a complex hierarchy of hypermedia documents and creating a matching user-friendly front end.

Think you have what it takes? Send email to Marc Andreessen (marca@mcom.com).

Wanted: Windows Hackers Par Extraordinaire

We are looking for multiple killer Windows hackers -- people who have in-depth knowledge and experience writing applications that fully exploit the capabilities of the Microsoft Windows application environment. Written your own Windows TCP/IP stack or PPP implementation? Hacked low-level DOS/Windows memory management and device driver functionality? Built complex Windows applications that interoperate with a wide variety of datatypes and user interface mechanisms? Drop Marc Andreessen (marca@mcom.com) a note.

Wanted: UNIX Fire Marshall

We are looking for an accomplished UNIX hacker/administrator to join our development team.

This person will have experience administering or programming ALL the following UNIX platforms in complex network environments: AIX, BSDI, HP-UX, IRIX, Linux, OSF, Solaris, Sunos, MAC, and Windows(3.*/NT). Practical use of C, Perl, shell programming and network administration a must. Product development, testing, HTTP/Mosaic, and Q/A experience are also a plus. Work closely with the core developers assisting, supporting, and adding to the entire scope of the development effort: from product design and development to benchmarking and load testing as well as Q/A and release management. Looking for highly motivated, extremely competant, composed, bright individuals with an interest in investing a significant portion of their eternal being to reap the rewards of a fast growing commercial effort.

Wanted: Staff Technical Writer

We are looking for a full-time staff technical writer to coordinate all technical documentation related to our server products.

If you have experience writing documentation about cross platform Unix network software, including installation, configuration and maintenance, we'd like to hear from you. Do you have proven document management skills, including authoring of a single document tree used for product, CD and paper based versions of documentation for a single product? Does your recent work demonstrate a writing style that takes highly technical subjects and reduces them to elegant, concise and informative sentences and paragraphs without becoming dry and boring? Are you proactive, detail oriented and thorough in the approach to new writing challenges? Have you been responsible for the design, layout, AND content of a complete software manual from conceptualization through implementation and onto the press, using Framemaker? Are you ready, willing and able to join and keep up with a team of top notch, fanatical software developers attacking the fasting growing area of computer technology at break neck speed? If you are still reading this: send email to Jeff Treuhaft (jeff@mcom.com).
