Known Problems
The following are problems that have been reported with the
latest version,
NCSA HTTPd 1.5.1:
Multiple groups on the require line don't work
- Platforms: All
- Status: Cause known
- Fix: None at this time
- Comments: This is a result of modifying the group file parser to handle
multiple lines with the same group name. This will probably be fixed to
do both either in a later version 1.5.1 or in 1.5.2
Child Processes hogging CPU cycles
- Platforms: OSF/1 3.2, BSDI 2.0
- Status: Possible cause known
- Fix: None at this time
- Comments: Any information that can be provided would be useful
Server starts up, but doesn't work
- Platforms: Linux 1.3.x
- Status: Problem known
- Fix: Run a Linux 1.2.x kernel instead, or wait
- Comments: See Why doesn't NCSA HTTPd work on my Linux system? in the FAQ.
Server exits complaining about
"unable to change gid"
- Platforms: Possibly all, known on Linux and HP-UX
- Status: Problem Known
- Fix: Use a different Group then -1 in conf/httpd.conf
- Comments: See
Can't start server with "unable to change gid" or "unable to setgroups"...
in the FAQ
Server crashes on use of #config timefmt
server-side include directive
- Platforms: Possibly all, known on AIX3, IRIX 5.3 and 6.1, and Linux
- Status: Several leads
- Fix: None at this time
- Comments: This is probably a memory overwrite, and it may be intermittent.
Any information would be useful.
