When installing Red Hat 7.3 on a DL380 G3, most likely you will need to boot the installation media (and Linux after you have it installed) with the following:
ide=nodma
in order to prevent problems when mounting the cdrom:
The following message appears when mounting the CDROM drive
Serverworks OSB4 in impossible state.
Disable UDMA or if you are using Seagate then try switching disk types on this controller. Please report this event to osb4-bug@ide.cabal.tm OSB4 continues might cause disk corruption.
This could also be turned off by using:
/sbin/hdparm -d0 /dev/cdrom
Be sure to add ide=nodma to LILO or GRUB
For help on adding this entry (ide=nodma) to either GRUB or LILO, please see the "kernel parameters" section of either of the following: grub.html lilo.html
