I don't have any notes for RHL9 yet, but they're probably the same as RHL80.
If the installation of RHL9 keeps hanging when installing to the PL1600 try installing in text mode and then skipping the GUI configuration when prompted during install.

What appears to work is beginning the install with "linux nousb".
