apt-get update
daily cron job for "apt-get update && apt-get -y dist-upgrade"
firewall - gShield
create regular user
root email forwarding - /etc/alias, then run newaliases
set up sudo - add regular user to wheel group, require password (if you don't require a password, then it is nearly like being the superuser account)
