Check the SMTP server log. 2. Check to make sure the queue disk isn't getting too full; messages might be getting refused because MX thinks it's out of available space. -Matt -- Matthew Madison | MadGoat Software | PO Box 556, Santa Cruz, CA 95061 USA madison@madgoat.com http://www.madgoat.com ================================================================================ Archive-Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2001 13:38:31 -0700 Message-ID: <4.3.2.7.2.20010828163305.00b33100@popd.tol-ed.com> Date: Tue, 28 Aug 2001 16:38:24 -0400 To: mx-list@madgoat.com From: Rick Sharpe Reply-To: MX-List@MadGoat.com Subject: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Hi, I'm having a small problem with MX. I got put on the ordb hit list for having an open relay so I've upgraded to version 5.2 (the PO is in the mail) and set smtp to no relay. I've tried various combinations of settings and still get identified as an open relay by ordb. I have, however, found several combinations that disable all incoming mail - not exactly what I was looking for. What else should I be trying to close up my systems? No, ordb isn't the problem, the problem is bad configuration of MX. If you block just the tester you don't fix the problem. Plus, if you block the tester people will find about it and the system will be put in many manual blocklists. Getting off from them is much harder than from a few automated blocklists. Yours, esa
