Currently the list server seems happiest (only happy?) with plain text messages. Yet the default for nearly any mailer is HTML or worse these days. Sometimes the commands are found in all the headers and other stuff, and sometimes they are not. At best the action may be done, but the user gets an error message as well. I don't feel too badly having to tell a list owner to use plain text (although they struggle with that) but sending about subscribe instructions to be sent back as subscribe commands really doesn't work too well for the vast majority of email users. Is there a way to solve this issue? Is there a way to tell MX to be MIME-aware? Thanks. If I ever manage to get a VMS box up and running, I'd certainly be willing to get something like that ported. -brian -- "The reason I don't use Gnome: every single other window manager I know of is very powerfully extensible, where you can switch actions to different mouse buttons. We already have the defanger running on our main mail servers. But I don't think it would be an answer here. It would still leave all the headers and other decorations to confuse MX. This issue has become severe enough (we have over 3,000 lists) that we simply are going to have to move away from MX.
