My boss has asked me two questions, #1 >What criteria is used to trigger the sending of this message? #2 Can we modify >this criteria or completely turn these messages off? Is it really delay notifications that are the trouble, or _relay_ notifications? Delay DSNs are generated when the user (or the user's mail client) explicitly requests notification of delayed messages (i.e., messages that generate some kind of temporary error during delivery, but will be tried again). Relay DSNs are generated when the user requests notification of successful delivery, but the message is sent to a system that does not support the DSN standard. These are generally the more confusing messages, and there is an ECO available at ftp://ftp.madgoat.com/mx/mx051/ecos/mx051_eco03.zip that provides a mechanism for disabling them. -Matt -- Matthew Madison | MadGoat Software | PO Box 556, Santa Cruz, CA 95061 USA madison@madgoat.com http://www.madgoat.com ================================================================================ Archive-Date: Tue, 1 Dec 1998 05:52:15 -0800 Date: Tue, 1 Dec 1998 08:52:28 -1300 From: system@eagle.navsses.navy.mil Reply-To: MX-List@MadGoat.com To: MX-List@MadGoat.com CC: system@eagle.navsses.navy.mil Message-ID: <009D0090.634F3940.150@eagle.navsses.navy.mil> Subject: RE: message delivery delayed' messa > >>I am having problems with the 'Message Delivery Delay' messages that MX V5.1 is >>generating. If the client cannot be configured not to ask for them, I can hack another workaround, but I'd be interested to hear which client this is. -Matt -- Matthew Madison | MadGoat Software | PO Box 556, Santa Cruz, CA 95061 USA madison@madgoat.com http://www.madgoat.com ================================================================================ Archive-Date: Thu, 3 Dec 1998 07:29:58 -0800 Date: Thu, 03 Dec 1998 15:35:48 GMT From: System Manager Reply-To: MX-List@MadGoat.com To: MX-List@MadGoat.com Message-ID: <009D025B.105A5C02.51@spotimage.fr> Subject: where is the Alias file ? hello, where is the Alias file ? and what is the format ? The Alias table is part of the MX_Config file and is not a text file. You can get make a text file by using the following command: show alias * /output=alias.txt /command This will generate a file of mcp commands to define all of the aliases. Drop the /command if you don't what the mcp commands included. Patrick M. Basically I would like to have a setting like Strip_Headers on each list called Strip_Attachments that would not allow attachments to be sent to the list by automatically stripping any attachment from any message sent to the list. No_Strip_Attachment would allow attachments to be sent to the list. If this is not already available could we please add it to the wish list? Thanks! SMTP_SERVER must be included for MX V5.x. It's not necessary in V4.2 (and MLF isn't necessary for either). Under both of these conditions my email has blown up Windows Eudora Pro Version 3.0 (32). It turns out that " * Downloading a message with a long GMT Offset such as EST5EDT4,M4.1.0,M10.5.0." causes problems. This has been fixed in 3.0.1. So I am going to change to DEFINE/SYS/EXEC MX_TIMEZONE "-0600" What reasons exist for changing the above to "-0500" for Daylight Savings Time? I realize it will be incorrect otherwise, but is being off an hour likely to cause any problems? Robert Morphis
