On the vax this is not a problem since VMS converts whs.edu to whscdp.whs.edu. However, if the user is using a Mac or PC mailer (Eudora, for example) and they indicate that their address is @whs.edu, the problem occurs. I tried the commands add/access/nocase <*@*.whs.edu> and add/access/nocase test1 <*@*.whs.edu> to no avail (test1 is the name of the list) Can this be done? That is, can the mailing list be set up in such a way that either whscdp.whs.edu or whs.edu work for a particular user without subscribing them twice? Also, can this be done globally since we have users migrating to Mac and PC email programs to access their VAX email and we have a bunch of lists. Does MX 5.x resolve this problem and/or offer any enhancements to the mailing list facility? Thanks for your help. Joe -- Joe Kmoch Washington High School kmoch@whs.edu 2525 N. Is our >security setting too high? One of the spam filters checks for "From:", "To:" and MAIL FROM: (Sender) all being the same address. This will catch mail people send to themselves. As for AOL, they recently changed the rules and length limits for usernames. Plain MX V5.1 would reject mail from an AOL user with a username longer than 10 (I think) characters. MX V5.1-2 checks the new limit, which is 16. You should either upgrade to V5.1-2 or disable that check (assuming that's the one catching them). I looked at the code for Deliver and discovered they had the default line length set to 256. When I installed the newer version of MX_Local which could handle larger line lengths, the problems started. I recompiled Deliver with a line length maximum set to 1024. We'll see if that solves the problem. Do you or anyone else know what the line length of MX_Local is? All I know is that it's gotta be beyond 256. Thanks for your help and insight.
