Winsock/DNS Upgrade 1.2 for PPTP allows your computer to use Point-to-Point Tunneling protocol (PPTP). PPTP enables your computer to simultaneously connect to the Internet and to a remote network. The upgrade supports PPTP by enabling Windows 95 to search Domain Name Services (DNS) on more than one network. If you don't install Winsock Upgrade 1.2, you may encounter situations in which host names are not recognized. Winsock Upgrade 1.2 slightly revises Winsock 1.1, the version that shipped with Windows 95.

WARNING: Certain applications modify or replace Winsock or the TCP/IP stack. In such cases, if you install Winsock Upgrade 1.2 and Dial-Up Networking 1.2 Upgrade, these applications could stop working. If you have such applications, you should not install this this upgrade. If you choose to perform the upgrade, and certain applications stop working, you will have to re-install these applications.
