The new Windows Media Player includes all the features found in each of the other multimedia players, plus a lot more. With Windows Media Player, you can play most audio and video file types found on the Internet, as well as on your own computer. Windows Media Player will upgrade the previous Windows Media Player, the NetShow player, and the Microsoft ActiveMovie player, giving you access to Windows Media Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) content, .wav files, .avi files, QuickTime, MIDI, RealAudio, RealVideo, and others.

How to download and install

1. Click the Download button at the top or bottom of the page.
2. Follow the instructions on your screen.

Click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to Entertainment, and then click Media Player. Or, find a Web site that has audio or video content, click an audio or video link, and the player opens automatically.

How to uninstall

1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Select Windows Media Player.
4. Click Add/Remove.
