srvrwks1.jpg (11937 bytes) The decision to move up to client/server computing demands thoughtful consideration. Fortunately, if you have chosen a DIGITALTM server, your network decision just became a lot easier. That’s because every DIGITAL server is supplied with DIGITAL ServerWORKSTM Manager, a complete package of integrated system and network software tools for proactive control and management of your servers and network resources. These tools help to improve on uptime, enhance user productivity, and lower overall cost of ownership.
FEATURES
  • Flexible alarm responses: paging, E-mail, script launch.
  • Enhanced support of Pentium Pro, Pentium II, and AlphaTM-based servers, providing information on environmental characteristics, field replaceable units, ECC memory correction, and firmware.
  • Support for non-DIGITAL Servers.
  • SMART agents to assist in providing
    network performance improvements.
  • Windows NT administration tools to simplify management of user accounts.
  • Desktop management alarming support with SecureON and SecureBOX.
  • Integration with RAID controller management software for monitoring and predictive alerting.
  • ODBC-compliant database.
  • Intelligent toolbar integration in support of third-party software and DIGITAL Remote Server Manager (RSM).
  • Integration with DIGITAL DMI-based ClientWORKSTM product to view DMI information for desktops and laptops, as well as make DMI data available to Microsoft Systems Management ServerTM (SMS)
  • Support for Microsoft’s NTS/E clustering technology and DIGITAL Clusters for Windows NT.

Get all the information you need

ServerWORKSTM Manager uses an autodiscovery process to automatically build a topological map of all your network devices — not only servers, but also SNMP-compatible devices such as bridges, routers, hubs and switches. From the map, it’s easy to click on a server and obtain information on CPU utilization, file system utilization, network packet statistics and other data vital to monitoring the health of your network.

Save time and effort

With its Windows NT LAN Manager administration tools, ServerWORKS Manager simplifies tasks, saving time and increasing accuracy. Use ServerWORKS Manager in tandem with ClientWORKS Desktop Management Interface (DMI) software to check out a user’s system memory and BIOS. Thermal and voltage sensor information is also provided to allow for proactive management of systems by setting and responding to alarms.

Access from one intuitive interface

ServerWORKS Manager provides the look and feel of Windows 95/Windows NT. ServerWORKS Manager includes intelligent toolbar integration in support of third-party software such as RAID controller and backup software. For example, by selecting the appropriate product from the ServerWORKS Manager toolbar, you can launch backup functions for any server on the LAN without accessing multiple applications or logging in and out of each server.

Stay informed wherever you are

ServerWORKS Manager’s remote paging feature provides server alarm notification via your pager or E-mail, and will monitor your servers and keep you informed if something goes wrong. Enhanced alarming features let you take corrective action before problems arise. Alarms may be set on system status, thresholds, temperature, fans, and other characteristics.

Use a standards-based product

ServerWORKS Manager is an SNMP-compliant product. This means you can receive and forward SNMP traps from any SNMP device. With ODBC database support, ServerWORKS Manager lets you use third-party reporting tools to enrich information capacity. A Discovery Wizard provides filtered discovery and choice of display options, and MIB utilities allow compilation and enrolling of MIBs for third-party installation.

Extend management up to enterprise managers

ServerWORKS Manager can pass traps and other information to enterprise management products such as HP OpenViewTM, CA Unicenter TNG, and Tivoli TME 10 NetVIEW. The ability to launch Novell NetWare utilities from the ServerWORKS toolbar unifies management tools within a single console. These features make it easy to integrate management of your workgroup into an enterprise management framework.

Manage both Alpha- and x86-based servers, as well as multiple operating systems

ServerWORKS Manager manages Alpha platforms running Windows NT, DIGITAL UNIX and OpenVMSTM, as well as Intel platforms running Windows NT, SCO UNIX, Novell NetWare and IBM OS/2.
