SCSI bus hangs

Greetings -

Apparently we have a minor problem with a DEC 7000-620. The symptoms are thus:

We are running OSF/1 v3.0 r347, I (as superuser) just finished displaying the
results of a file /dev/nrmt*h command. Two normal (uid >100, group==users)
users then attempted the command, only one of them decided to try it with the
raw tape devices. Now,file commands and mount commands and scu> release
device bus 2 target 0 lun 0 commands all hang when attempting to access (tape
and CD) devices off of our 7000.

Any access to the devices shown in the following CAM Equipment Device Table
(EDT) hang:

# scu show edt lun 0
CAM Equipment Device Table (EDT) Information:

Bus: 0, Target: 0, Lun: 0, Device Type: Read-Only Direct Access
Bus: 2, Target: 0, Lun: 0, Device Type: Sequential Access
Bus: 2, Target: 1, Lun: 0, Device Type: Sequential Access
Bus: 3, Target: 0, Lun: 0, Device Type: Sequential Access
Bus: 3, Target: 4, Lun: 0, Device Type: Sequential Access

Any clues (short of a reboot) to clear this? Any ideas (short of "don't do
that") to keep this from happening? Summary pending responses.
