The current version of GNU Emacs that will run on an Alpha running
OSF1/v1.3,V2.0 is emacs-19.28. The Emacs sources will need to be
patched before they can be compiled.
As an aside, it seems that the main site for GNU software,
prep.ai.mit.edu has devoted little time to the Alpha platform, at least
for GNU emacs. It states in the GNU Emacs docs that the Alpha's will be
supported in Emacs-19.29.
Both the GNU Emacs sources and patches are available from
gatekeeper.dec.com in /pub/GNU. One can find Alpha patches and sources
for emacs-19.25 thru emacs-19.28.
