~/.rhosts strangeness...

Hello all,

I imagine that this is a "baby" question, but U**x (and OSF/1 in
particular) system administration is pretty new to me. Please bear with
me...

Anyway, I have two Alpha 2100's, and am trying to set up amanda as a
network backup service. The crux of the issue is that the server software
runs as bin, and connects to the client system, which also runs the client
software as bin. So, in ~bin/.rhosts on the client, I put the following:

bobo_at_niehs.nih.gov bin

(bobo...etc. is the name of the server machine) This didn't work - but
when I put a second line in that read:

bobo bin

That worked! It is as if bobo is not putting out its' full name. This
goes along with something that I've also noticed in mail. If I send mail
from bobo, the "From:" line in the header just has "user_at_bobo", not
"user_at_bobo_at_niehs.nih.gov". So, what direction should I take to resolve
this one?

                    Thanks!
