I also am trying to set up POP on a DEC 2100, running OSF/1 3.0
I have added exactly ONE user to the POP database (/usr/spool/pop/POP)
That entry looks like this:
mikeg::mikeg:_at_#!$%#_at_^::::::0
(with, of course, a REAL encrypted password field, not the garbage above!)
I try to send a test message to mikeg_at_medio.net. The alias file for the mail
hub has the entry:
mikeg: mikeg_at_pop
Which should select 'pop' as the delivery agent. Here are the pertinent
entries from the sendmail.cf on that mail hub (the DEC 2100 OSF box):
## In Ruleset '0'
R$+<_at_POP> $#pop $_at_$j $:$1 username_at_POP
## Local POP Mailer program
Mpop, P=/usr/lib/mh/spop, F=nsmFDM, S=10, R=20, A=pop $u
Now, when I send a test message, nothing gets put in the expected
/usr/spool/pop/mikeg file. I run 'mailq' to check on if it's stuck, and
get the following:
AA02469 435 Tue Feb 7 22:06 <mgodsey_at_medio.com>
(Operating system error)
mikeg_at_pop
Sooooo..... anybody have any clues out there?
