Dear Managers,
I try to use the man.cgi CGI script from within my http server
in order to display the man pages with Mosaic or Netscape.
Unfortunately, the man pages are formatted (that is : the cat<n> directories
exist under /usr/share/man) and the man.cgi displays garbage because it is
awaiting non formatted stuff.
Did some of you encounter this problem ? This may be more general than this
html interface problem, for example, I need to use commands like :
"nroff -man /usr/man/man1/who.1 | lpr" in order to print correctly a man page.
Doing so, you NEED to know that "who" is in man1 section, (yes I know ;-)
which is a real drawback.
Some discarded solutions :
1) Remove the /usr/share/man/cat<n> directories !!!
the display of the man page is far more readable when catman has been run
2) Modify the man2html script : I am a Perl newbee (but I try hard :-)
The most preferred one (hello DEC gurus !) :
1) A flag in the man command allowing to choose from "catman'ed" pages or
bare ones : it will solve both problems at once.
2) YOUR'S PERHAPS !
Regards,
