Configuring Majordomo for direct LAN access with NIS

Dear managers,

I have installed Majordomo on a DecStation 3000/600 under OSF/1 V2.1
Locally (within this machine), all works fine, I have these lines in the
aliases file (which is in /var/adm/sendmail for OSF/1 and not /etc) :
  ...
majordomo: "|/usr/local/majordomo/wrapper majordomo"
majordomo-owner: majordom
owner-majordomo: majordom
  ...

Our configuration :
-------------------

- The other machines are either DecStation 5000 (MIPS,ULTRIX) or
  DecStations 3000 (ALPHA,OSF/1)
- Perl version is 5.000 and Majordomo version is 1.93
- Sendmail is the one bundled with OSF/1 on Alpha and Ultrix on Mips
- Our machines are only DNS clients (servers are managed by our provider)
- The mail aliases are held by a DS 5000 (ULTRIX 4.4) NIS server,
  in a file named /var/yp/src/mail.aliases

The problem :
-------------

Now, I wish that other users logged in at other stations on the LOCAL net
can access *DIRECTLY* the mailing lists managed on this Alpha 3000 box.

What should I do to allow all users access the lists with mailings directed
at majordomo and *not* majordomo_at_<The Alpha Box Full Qualified Domain Name> ?
which is less memorizable, is subject to change if I move the lists on
an other machine and, what is worst, forwards all messages sent by users to
majordomo through an external mail hub instead remaining local !
(In other words : is there another solution than declaring a NIS alias like :
majordomo majordomo_at_somebox.my.domain.name).

I'd prefer not to change the sendmail program because machines are many,
human resources scarce and OSF releases too frequent :-(
Anyway, if it is the only solution, how would sendmail V8 and IDA compare
with respect to sharing a unique file of aliases throuh NIS ?
(According to the "bat book" NIS implies IDA which is unavailable over OSF/1)

This is perhaps more a Sendmail or NIS related problem, and I apologize
if some of you consider this request inappropriate to this list (perhaps
can you direct me to a sendmail list if it does exist).

Thanks for your help,
