SUMMARY: ls with anonymous ftp

Original message (abbreviated):

>Users logged in as anonymous ftp on my workstation (3000/400 OSF/1
>3.0) can use "ls" but not "ls -l" or "dir", both of which produce the
>message:

>/bin/ls: Permission denied

Several people suggested making sure that /sbin/ls rather than /bin/ls
is copied to /ftp/bin. I had already done that. The suggestion that
turned out to be effective was to change the permission on /ftp/bin to
555. Thanks to
