It turned out that the software packages from DIGITAL, at least here,
in Germany are different from those in USA and we got the updates within
our Software Contract with a delay of 3 month.
P01 here has the Part number AV-PROPP-TE, from DEC 94,
but is labeled with Nov 94.
P01 on other sides has the part number QA-054AA-H8 P01.
The Labels here in Germany and in USA are different.
Mail me, if you want more Details.

So far so ...

But the basic Problem I have is :

I had to install PATHWORKS for OSF/1 v3.0
We need
        a. File Services
        b. Print Services
        c. REMOTEBOOT

We have :
        a. several Pc's with DEPCA Ethernet Controller
        b. A VAX (!!) with is able to serve remote boot request.
You can't serve remote boot with ULTRIX, not when you have DEPCA.

        c. An Alpha 3000/600 with OSF/1 v3.0 which should now be
           the Pathworks server.

1. I first installed Pathworks - nothing happened.
2. I installed NETbeui - nothing happened.
Then someone told me to install DECnet (!!) for remote boot, even if
I never use DECnet. I waited for DECnet OSI 3.0.
   I figured out, that
        a. the DEPCA Controller are requesting the boot services with mop.
        b. the mop boot server for OSF/1 v3.0 is on the DECnet OSI 3.0
           Software Package.
        c. I have to install DECnet OSI

2. I installed DECnet OSI - nothing happened.
3. I made a FRB (Floppy Remote Boot) Floppy Disk for one PC.
4. I tried to boot remote and observed the network with an analyser.

I turned out that

The DEPCA is sending
1. C 64 PC -> DECmop RemCo DEC MOP Rem Con
2. C 64 PC -> DECmop DuLoa DEC MOP Dump/Load

no answer from ALPHA,
nothing happened, this is installed :

DNABASE300 installed DECnet/OSI Base Components (DECnet/OSI Standard Run-time Environment)
DNADLI300 installed DECnet/OSI Datalink Components (DECnet/OSI Standard Run-time
                                                                                Environment)
DNAMOP300 installed DECnet/OSI MOP Utilities (Optional DECnet/OSI Components)
DNANETMAN300 installed DECnet/OSI Network Management (DECnet/OSI Standard Run-time
                                                                                Environment)
DNAPGMR200 installed DECnet/OSI Programming Tools (Optional DECnet/OSI Components)
OSFCLINET300 installed Basic Networking Services (Network-Server/Communications)
OSFINET300 installed Additional Networking Services (Network-Server/Communications)
OSFNFS300 installed NFS(tm) Utilities (Network-Server/Communications)
OSFRIS300 installed Remote Installation Service (Network-Server/Communications)
PWKDNA3505 installed PATHWORKS V5.0C for DEC OSF/1 AXP - DECnet Driver
PWKNBU3505 installed PATHWORKS V5.0C for DEC OSF/1 AXP - NetBEUI Driver

This is running :

  253 ?? I 0:00.04 /usr/sbin/dnalimd
  256 ?? S 0:00.26 /usr/sbin/dnaevld
  279 ?? S 0:01.89 /usr/sbin/dnamopd
  337 ?? I 0:00.01 /usr/sbin/knblink
  345 ?? I 0:00.01 /usr/sbin/dllink
  459 ?? I 0:00.01 /usr/sbin/nbelink

 1516 ?? I 0:00.03 /usr/net/servers/pathworks/bin/pwlic.srv
 1518 ?? I 0:00.01 /usr/net/servers/lanman/bin/pwalrtr
 1526 ?? S 0:00.38 lmx.ctrl
 1586 ?? I 0:00.05 /usr/net/servers/pathworks/bin/pwlic.grp -s FBI004
 1592 ?? I 0:00.20 lmx.srv -s 1
 1640 ?? I 0:00.04 lmx.dmn
 1666 ?? I 0:51.59 /usr/net/servers/lanman/service/lmx.repl
 1670 ?? I 0:00.01 /usr/net/servers/lanman/service/lmx.netrun
 1681 ?? I 0:00.18 /usr/sbin/cml
 1683 ?? I 0:00.29 /usr/sbin/cml

and much more.

Is there somebody out there in netland who is running Pathwork 5.0c with remoteboot ?
Must I install more subsets ? Perhaps SNA, or X.25 or DOS or Netware or CP/M or
whatelse ? (This should be a joke, but I disn't find a place in the Documentation,
which tells me on one place which subsets i need or not.
