We have only one system running advfs (under V3.0 358.78) and have
gone through the [seemingly ridiculous] task of touching a number of
empty files on the order of what we expect to have incoming for news.
And things still clobber themselves.
I'm a little tired of this guessing game. Can anyone provide a real
technical reference as to why 'bumping against the ceiling' of the
metacell table is supposed to help? Is there any magic similar to the
ordinary adjusting of the inode/K ratio that can be done to gain more
metacells? ["Nope. you won't have to worry about running out of
_inodes_ ever again. nope. you're all set on _inodes_..."]
Joe, saddened that there's no real ref to this in osf-managers... are
we the only ones bitten by this? Did the goofball 'touch a lot and
remove them' work for everyone else? Is it a case of "get this
patch" or do I have to look toward 3.2?
