mtools on OSF/1 3.2

hi there,

        Has anybody used mtools on osf/1 ver 3.2 to access the floppy drive?
        what are the configuration parameters required to make it run?.
        What device should rx26 be listed in kernel config file.
        I did make "MAKEDEV fd5" and got /dev/[r]fd0a and /dev/[r]fd0c files.
        but when I run mtools it says cannot open /dev/rfd0c.

        Any pointers...
