A few days ago I asked why the OSF/1 full distribution kits don't
contain the ECU diskette, whereas the update kits (which otherwise
have a subset of the full kit) do include it. The answer seems to
be that full kits are normally sent to people who've just gotten a
system, and that the current ECU diskette would have been shipped
with the system itself; whereas the update kits go to people who
are getting a new software release for their existing system, so
they'd need the new ECU diskette. OK, fine. But now I have one
further question ...
The OSF/1 V3.2 release notes say that the firmware 3.1 CD-ROM is
required for that release of OSF, and that ECU diskette v1.7 is
included in the update kits.
However, if I print the LFU user guide and release notes which
come on the firmware 3.1 CD, the revision matrix tells me that
ECU v1.6 is what corresponds to that release of the firmware.
So, which ECU disk *should* I used on our system: v1.6, or v1.7,
or can I use either one? (I don't have *either* one yet, but it
would be nice to know which one I should be asking for!)
