Thank you to those who replied.

(DISREGARD PREVIOUS SUMMARY)

Several recommended using 'tcpdump' and I may use this
in order to get the data I want.

Others, recommended the use of 'etherman' and 'packetman'
for watching ethernet traffic. I like these tools for other
reasons. 'etherman' gives a great visual of the ethernet
loading as well as several statistics. You may want to check
these out.

'tcpdump' comes with OSF/1
'etherman' and 'packetman' are available at
ftp.cac.psu.edu /pub/unix/netman

One question about 'packetman': 'packetman' dumps data
in Data General Sniffer format, is there a utility for
converting this to an ASCII formatted data file?? I hope
to pull this data into a spreadsheet for further analysis.

Thanks again,
