tcpdump-2.0 on osf/1 v3.0? maxgroups param. in kernel?

Two questions:

1) I hope this isn't a faq. Can someone please tell me if the tcpdump-2.0
distribution (I got it from decuac.dec.com) works on osf/1 v3.0?
Also, it talks about installing BPF in your kernel - format? Is it
   an "option"?

2) We are having problems with users being in too many netgroups, such
that they can't always access everything they should be able to because
various kernels only support up to some maximum number of groups, and
thus groups are dropped randomly. Supposedly there is a "maxgroups"
parameter (at least on suns) that can be increased, but I haven't found
it in the alpha docs - does anyone know if it exists, the format, and
   implications of raising it??

Many thanks in advance...
