I have got the icsi-gfinger and it worked under OSF 2.1 and a bunch of
other machines.
The only thing I think that people should watch out is the config file
for the fingerdir. if it's not set up correctly, gfingerd would just die
without much info.

You can get a derivate of GNU-finger from
ftp.icsi.berkeley.edu:/pub/stolcke
that work on OSF-1. I have used it for a long time on 3.0 and it works
OK an builds without problems. Have all features of GNU-finger.

Use ICSI finger (it's GNU finger, only it's not broken as badly). I had
no trouble setting it up on four Alpha 3000/800s running OSF/1 3.0. You
can find it under ftp.icsi.berkeley.edu:/pub/stolcke/.
