Question:
=========
My April 1995 osf layered products cd has many files that look
like they corrupted. Check /decw_book/dj01za17.decw_bookshelf.
Is it just me?
Answer:

No, it isn't just me. One other report of a hurt cd. No
other replys.

You are both assuming the file is corrupted. Actually, that particular file
is for a Japanese language version of the product -- note the reference to
the book\dj01aa46\DEC PHIGS Installing DEC PHIGS for DEC OSF/1 AXP Systems
(Japanese) in the first line. The fact that the second line looks weird is
probably because it's got Japanese characters in it, and your locale isn't
set up for Japanese (maybe it's Kanji, I don't know). I suspect that if you
were set up for Japanese as your local language, it would look just fine but
then you might not be able to read it.
(editor: btw, bookreader crashes if you try to open second entry, hmmm
just like the dollar next to the yen 8^)
I've copied Wendy Rannenberg, our internationalization manager, on this
reply to see if she can shed any light.

No, you're not the only one. LPS500 is corrupted also.
(editor: private query here on what LPS500 was produced)
I'm unsure as to exactly what you're asking here. The LPSBASE500 kit
contains the PrintServer software; it is (supposed to be) in the
lps500 directory on the layered products CD, which does not contain
online documentation. The lps500 directory is there, but it is missing
some contents (such as the LPSBASE500 subset itself).
