Hi,

The latest press release in biz.digital.announce prompts me to ask a very
simple question. Quick excerpt follows...

    PRODUCT NAME: HUBwatch V4.0

    OVERVIEW:

HUBwatch is element network management software that provides a
powerful, low cost, graphical, SNMP interface to control Digital's
network hardware. Virtual LANs can be managed and created within a
DEChub 900 MultiSwitch by interconnecting ports, modules, or LAN

I loaded up HUBwatch from the layered products cd, pulled the license
off the DECcampus CD and started it up on an unloaded DEC3000 500 with
96megs of memory. I don't recall ever having used a slower program. It
was painful to use in the extreme.

The guilty setld package...

HBWTCH310 installed HUBwatch for OSF/1 AXP V3.1

... so, was i doing something wrong? Is HUBwatch 3.1 really the
most usable, responsive, graphical wonder of the world ever? Is version
4.0 any better? Would anyone pay money for shite like this?

regards
