Hi

I have just configured NIS on my OSF1 ver3.2 system. But I am having
some problem adding new user account into the NIS passwd map. The
following is what I did to add an account :

1. Add a user entry into the /var/yp/src/passwd file. The entry is exactly
the same as the /etc/passwd file format.
2. Execute "make passwd" under the /var/yp directory.
3. Then used yppasswd to change the password of the new user.

But when I tried to login or su to the new user, it reported invalid
userid. Did I miss out on anything ?

There are a few more questions which I would like to ask about NIS.

1. After installing NIS, the adduser, removeuser commands cannot be used
anymore. How can I add an user into the local system, meaning the
/etc/passwd, without adding into the NIS password map ?
2. Do I need to integrate the /tcb/files/auth directory, which is used
in the C2 security, into the NIS map ?

Thank you in advance.

Have a nice day.
