Hello all,

First of all, I want to thank those whom responded to my
message regarding DEC OSF/1 Version 3.0:

My previous message was about the installation procedure for DEC
UNIX v3.0, and whether any firmare is needed to be installed.

We are running version 1.3 on 3 of 2 of our 3000/800s AXP systems because
the software applications running on our systems have not been updated to run
on DEC UNIX v3.0. We still have our production and development system
running DEC UNIX v1.3. We are in the process of upgrading all systems to
OS v3.0 only because the software applications is designed for OS v3.0 and
not v3.2.

I had installed the DEC UNIX OS v3.0 2 weeks ago on the third system,
and just yesterday I was not able to reboot the system after I shut it
down and turn it off and on. I contacted DEC Support (800-354-9000),
and it was suggested that I install firmware update v2.9. I installed
the update and was able to reboot the system.

One concern I still have is that after I turned the system off and on as
suggested in the instructions FAXed to me, I got "System power up tests
detected error(s)" and another message was to refer to the documentation.

I was assigned this project recently, and I am not aware of the fact
that we bought the update subscription service. Somehow, I have a hold
of the CD for v3.0. From what I have gathered, firmware v6.0 goes with
DEC UNIX v3.0. If I am incorrect, please advise.

Thanks
