I am attempting to get a TZ877 up and running with NSR V3.1, but seem to be
missing something. The jukebox is connected to a 2100 running V3.2a. I never
did find one good set of instructions, sort of had to piece it together.
I did the following after installing the drive:
1) Did a MAKEDEV tz4 to see if it showed up, and it did.
# file /dev/rmt0h
/dev/rmt0h: character special (9/4098) SCSI #0 TZ877 tape #32 (SCSI ID #4)
offline
#
2) The most current version of the Media Changer software I have is V2.2, so
I installed that.
3) Based on info in the mc(7) man page, which doesn't have a listing for
2100's, and info from uerf after booting genvmunix. I added the following
line to my kernel config file.
device mc4 at scsi0 drive 32
uerf said:
tz4 at scsi0 bus 0 target 4 lun 0 (DEC
_ TZ877 (C) DEC 9514)
4) I rebuilt the kernel, rebooted and ran MAKEDEV.MC mc4 in the /dev directory.
5) I ran jbm_enabler to see if it would recognize the mc device, but it
doesn't:
Name you would like to assign to the jukebox device? tz877
Pathname of the control port for the jukebox device? /dev/mc4
jbm_enabler: SYSTEM error, No such device or address
There appears to be something incorrect about your jukebox
installation. Please consult your device's documentation
to help you troubleshoot your installation.
Where did I go wrong?
thanks,
