NSF lockf & mail problem over 0SF and Ultrix...

I just upgraded from OSF1v2.0 to Dec Unix 3.2 and I'm having
major locking problems.......

The server is a Dec5000/200 running Ultrix 4.2a. It exports
the directory /users/mail to /var/spool/mail on all the machines.

Now when ever I try either Mail or elm, it returns an error
cannot lockf /usr/spool/mail/jrw.
I tried to turn off NSF locking, (which sounds like a bad idea
to me) but the mail programs won't work without locks.....

Is there anyway to fix this? Will this go away when I swap
the server to an OSF machine in a few months?

Thanks, Jay
