Original Query: How do you change the depth of a 24-bit display to an
8-bit display.
Answer: (thanks to Lance Berc (berc_at_pa.dec.com)
add the "-vclass PseudoColor" option to the option line in the file
/usr/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers. Worked like a champ.
