Hi,
Does anyone know how to restore ADVfs quota files?
I had an ADVfs domain on an 'e' partition with ufs partitions on
a,b and d. I decided to remake the file domain as part of the
upgrade, and migrate the ufs partitions to ADVfs. So I backed
up the ufs and ADVfs filesystems, and remade the domain on rz12c,
after rmfdmn'ing the old one. I then made new filesets.
The restore went fine, except for the damn quota files. I have tried
userquota=/data1/backedup.quota.user,groupquota=/data1/backedup.quota.group
- dismounting, remounting, vquotachecking all produce the same result.
vedquota/vrepquota will happily report quota information for the affected
filesystem from the backedup.quota files, but the system will remain
stuck to using the quota.user and quota.group files.
I also tried deleting the quota.[user,group] files, but even with
permissions set, and the filesystem allegedly mounted to use different
quota files, this was impossible. (It is a strange feeling, as root,
to not be able to do something like this.)
So, Do I have to re-enter all the sodding quotas by hand? It seems
that I cannot overwrite the new fileset quota files with the backed
up ones.
If so, then (Dear DEC..) I'd like to be able to do this on a disk by
disk basis.
ie.
vedquota --disk-name /data1 --proto-user fred bill,sid,james
or even better;
vedquota --disk-name /home1 --proto-user fred --group users,system
or similar. The current vedquota is primitive. Oh and while I'm here
how about making vquota understand rpc.rquotad?
Or does everyone else have some sort of magic program that I've missed?
The o/s version I am running is; OSF/1 3.2a Clean install, not upgraded.
Machine is DEC 3000/400 (A bit old... but still faster than a sun :-)).
Any help gratefully accepted.
cheers,
andy
