Q: NQS?

Dear Gurus,

I have installed NQS (CERN version) on my Alpha box (Dec Unix 3.0).

Probably because I'm just stupid, I can't submit a job. Suppose I want to
run the program FOO with the option -small. Here is the (elementary) script
called foo.com:

FOO -small << END
...
...
input data
...
END

In interactive mode, no problem. Now if I want to run it in BATCH mode, the
command

"qsub foo.com" does'nt run FOO and results in the messages:

stty: tcgetattr: Not a typewriter
Not a terminal
Can't << within ()'s

I understood that NQS sets a variable ENVIRONMENT to BATCH when invoked,
and that the value of $ENVIRONMENT should be used to "do something" about
stty. But what, how and when?

Thank you for your help,

Jean-Loup
