Hello dears Gurus,
We have a DEC ALPHA Station 3000-300X under Digital-Unix (OSF/1) V 2.0 (FIS),
with a RZ26L disk.
The partitions in this disk are root (/) and usr (/usr).
We have installed Pathworks (server 5.0c and Dos-Window client 5.1, ours PC are
diskless).
We have now no more disk space in this disk and we have bought a new RZ26L disk.
My problem to extend the /usr partition , with Advfs usage and the new disk, for
Pathworks is:
1) It's possible to upgrade Digital-Unix v 2.0 to 3.2 (if the passage via 3.0 is
necessary ?) and
after install Advfs subsets, convert the ufs /usr to /usr Advfs (cf 8.11.1 -
page 8-18 of the
DEC OSF/1 System Administration guide).
In this case, Pathworks server and client should be reinstalled or not ?
2) Is the full installation of Digital-Unix v 3.2 necessary with :
a) full install of Pathworks server and client and the all softwares (DOS
and Window) ?
or
b) restore directories of Pathworks location (server and client) from backup
tape of
/usr in v 2.0 ?
Many thanks,
Herve CHOPLIN
