   Hi All,

I am trying to get a DECstation 3000/300 to talk to a EPROM burner via
the serial port. The EPROM burner is connected to the serial port via a
   null-modem cable.

I have loaded up the UUCP subsets, and entered the following
   configuration lines:

   /usr/lib/uucp/Devices:

   eburn tty00 - 9600 direct

   /usr/lib/uucp/Systems:

   eburn Any eburn 9600 - ""

   /etc/inittab:

   c0:3:respawn:/usr/lib/uucp/uugetty -r -t 30 tty00 9600 #UUCP

   I have done a "kill -HUP 1"

I try to connect to the EPROM burner using cu, as follows:

   # cu -d eburn

   The answer I get is:
   conn(eburn)
   Device Type eburn wanted
   ttylock tty00 succeeded
   Attempting to open /dev/tty00
generic open failed, errno = 2
   generic open timeout
   getto ret -1
   Call Failed: CAN'T ACCESS DEVICE
   Connect failed: CAN'T ACCESS DEVICE
   call cleanup(1)
   call _mode(0)
   #

Have I left out some obvious step??

   TIA,
      Garry
