SUMMARY: LA75 console printer

I received two responses to my query on how to set up an LA75
on my DEC 3000 Model 600. Both suggested that I attach a
VT series terminal to the serial port and then hang the LA75 off
of that in auto-print mode.

Steps taken were:

1. Attach VT340 terminal to the serial port on the back of the printer and
then
attach the LA75 printer to the printer port on the back of the terminal.
2. shutdown the DEC 3000
3. at >>> prompt type: SET SERVER ON
4. power off the system
5. flip toggle switch on back ( I recommend locating the hardware
documentation
that came with your system so that you know what switch to toggle - it
also
shows which port is the serial port).
6. boot up the system
7. for those of you who don't know how to set auto-print mode,
control/printscreen
on the VT toggles between auto-print and printer-ready mode.

(original message attached)

Hi,

I would like to attach an LA75 printer to my DEC 3000 Model 600 so that
I can capture a system crash (specifically, I would like to see if the system
is crashing due to a power failure or a software problem - if it is a power
problem, the system will go through the self tests....)

Does anyone know if this can be done? I'll summarize....
