Hello OSFfers --
THANKS!!! for the many replies sent to my questions regarding increasing
the # of telnet sessions available on my Alpha (OSF v2). I've done the
following:
1. Changed the MAXUSER parameter in /usr/sys/conf/SYSNAME from 512 to 1024.
2. Changed pseudo-device rpty 255 to pseudo-device rpty 512 (also in
/usr/sys/conf/SYSNAME)
3. Used ./MAKEDEV pty# (in /dev) to create alot more logins. I went from
32 to about 130.
As far as the exiting and defunct processes go, defunct processes
apparently are not "dangerous". I'm going to watch my "exiting"
processes, find the owners, and try to get rid of them that way.
The only thing, though, when I have an exiting/defunct process for a
certain user, the user still appears as logged on when I do a who or finger.
Thanks again for all the help!!!!
