We have an HP 35480A DAT tape drive connected to our Alpha (DEC 2000axp
Model 300 - see below for the uerf SYSTEM STARTUP entry). Twice in
recent weeks it has generated some CAM SCSI ERROR reports in the uerf
log. In addition, I had an odd problem last night with a backup job:
the dump apparently worked find, but the restore step (to list the dump
set) somehow went into a loop. The file system filled up and the log
file contained thousands of copies of the dump set listing.
After the first reported error, I ran tapex with the full set of tests
(the one which takes hours, I forget the flag) and everything seemed
fine.
Q1) Does any one know what the uerf log events shown below indicate?
Q2) Is the restore listing problem likely to be related? (One
additional bit of information: I was not in yesterday and it appears my
boss was looking at/fooling with/doing ? to our backup directories and
files. She may have inadvertently done ... something.)
Thanks for any help you can offer.
