Continuing: Installing a Seagate 15230N drive

Well, continuing the saga:

Checked the termination, checked the length of cables, checked the
control_scsi_termination variable, all to no avail. Now, in fact, I
can't even get the machine to boot past the fsck for /usr (which happens
to be the 4GB drive).

So, anyone know of a company that does on site upgrade installs for Alpha
in the Massachusetts area? I know I've done something stupid here but
it's beyond me to figure out what. Not enough experience with Alpha I
guess, but nothing that's worked for me with diagnosing/troubleshooting
in any other platform's fixed any of my problems here.

Thanks in advance, and thanks to all those who sent hint/tips/pointers -
good thoughts, but didn't work in this case.
