Hi folks!
We have a SUN under solaris serving home-directories for our alpha.
The following is shown by tcpdump:
2 tom_at_loewe:/usr/local/sbin/tcpdump host dodo and host luchs
tcpdump: listening on le0
17:14:45.078480 dodo.8fba966c > luchs.nfs: 144 read [|nfs]
17:14:45.078968 luchs.nfs > dodo.8fba966c: reply ok 28 read [|nfs] (DF)
17:14:45.080670 dodo.90ba966c > luchs.nfs: 144 read [|nfs]
17:14:45.081156 luchs.nfs > dodo.90ba966c: reply ok 28 read [|nfs] (DF)
17:14:45.082880 dodo.91ba966c > luchs.nfs: 144 read [|nfs]
17:14:45.083537 luchs.nfs > dodo.91ba966c: reply ok 28 read [|nfs] (DF)
17:14:45.085306 dodo.92ba966c > luchs.nfs: 144 read [|nfs]
17:14:45.085831 luchs.nfs > dodo.92ba966c: reply ok 28 read [|nfs] (DF)
17:14:45.087559 dodo.93ba966c > luchs.nfs: 144 read [|nfs]
17:14:45.088047 luchs.nfs > dodo.93ba966c: reply ok 28 read [|nfs] (DF)
17:14:45.090074 dodo.94ba966c > luchs.nfs: 144 read [|nfs]
This goes up to 40000 packets per minute! It really floods our net and
we even had problems with an important demonstration last week.
the machines involved:
1 tom_at_luchs:uname -a
SunOS luchs 5.4 Generic_101945-23 sun4m sparc
40 tom_at_dodo:uname -a
OSF1 dodo.cosy.sbg.ac.at V3.2 214 alpha
does anybody have any hints on how to resolve this situation?
thanx,
tom
