The initial information that I am receiving indicates that we should
be able to use both the ethernet and FDDI interfaces and route between
them. Some people indicated disbelief that we _ever_ should have had
a problem, let me assure those persons that we installed the first
FDDI cards available for AXP 4610, and initially really could not
use both of them, that was verified by DEC at the time as being
"currently not supported." I have been working on the problem this morning
without success, but really have to reboot the machine one more time
before I can admit failure. Therefore, I would still love to hear
from someone who has actually done this on a 4610. I have not heard
from one of those as yet, and would like the warm fuzzy feeling that
would give me. I have years and years of experience doing this with Sun
workstations, so am not totally ignorant of the procedures involved.
I did not receive any specific instructions other than to use
netsetup and iprsetup (iprsetup was not available when we first
received our 4610s, and I do not have new manuals, so although
I would have loved to RTFM, the FM I had did not have the needed
information).
Thanks to all who have replied so far, I am sure I will hear from more
of you. But again, if you have actually done this on a 4610 I would
really appreciate hearing from you.
