Hi,

I have some problems in our system DEC OSF/1, with NIS. When I try to
change the passwd of a user I type "yppasswd userid" normally. But the
program asks the old passwd of the user ! Normally I just press enter
here but, then it does not change the passwd. So, I edit the
/usr/var/yp/src/passwd file and change the passwd manually. As you can
guess this is not a secure way.

The other problem is that; When a user try to change its login shell
with chsh it doesnot succeed, because this user is not exist at
/etc/passwd and says " use yppasswd command to change your shell ..", but
yppasswd does not have any parameter ! ( only parameter is is userid to
change passwd, even it does not work )

 Similarly chfn does not work...

Do you have suggestions for this. ? I searched an another yppasswd but I
meet with many error messages ..

If you can help I will be gratefull.
