Thought I would report my experience with this issue. After seeing it
reported her, I got concerned about my 5 3000/400's. Using a scheduled power
outage to my advantage, I noted that 4 of them had the dreaded v1.0 sROM.
The other reported v2.1, and I opened that case, confirming a chip with
333E7/9422 (C)DEC94 on the label.

Monday morning I called Digital, Tuesday evening the foeld service rep
was here witth the chips. The only concern I had was that these chips were
copyrighted DEC 93, not 94. The 333E7 was on them. We installed one Tuesday
evening, brought it up, noting that the version was now 2.1, and waited till
Wednesday evening when I could shut the other 3 down. I haven't done the
OSF upgrades yet, but gettingthe sROMs went very smoothly, a credit to the Digital service organization.
