First, I'd like to thank alot of you folks for answering some of my
questions even before I got up enough nerve to ask them! :)
I've got two machines, a DEC 3000/600, OSF/1 3.2a, and a SPARC SLC,
SunOS 4.1.3.
The SPARC has my 4mm DAT tape drive attached to it which is where I do
all my backups at the moment. However, I can't seem to get the backups
I do via rdump to go past one tape, it just fails without asking for a
second tape.
------ VERY SIMPLE backup script -------
#!/bin/csh
rsh greydragon mt -f /dev/rst0 rewind
rdump 0udsf 61000 10240 greydragon:/dev/nrst24 /dev/rz3h
rdump 0udsf 61000 10240 greydragon:/dev/nrst24 /dev/rz2c
rsh greydragon mt -f /dev/rst0 offline
------ VERY SIMPLE backup script -------
Maybe I have some switches wrong but those were the recommended ones by
the DAT manual.
Here is the dump output...
rdump: Dumping from host RedDragon.Empire.Net

Somewhere in there if completely misses the end of tape ( I do have that
switch set on my DAT ) and starts getting SCSI errors on the SPARC, so I
have to ^c the dump.
Any ideas?
Also is it possible to do a vdump over to the SPARC? :) I kinda don't
think so but how are you folks doing remote dumps?
Thanks for all your help!
